What is COVID-19?
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a family of zoonotic viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Common symptoms include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
The current outbreak involves a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) that has not been previously identified in humans (World Health Organization).
