Racer Writing Center: Experimental

The Racer Writing Center helps students, faculty, and staff of all disciplines improve their writing skills.

Information

  • Due to Covid-19, all the services will be provided virtually (either over the phone or via Zoom) for Spring 2021.
  • Please arrive at your appointment prepared to read your work to one of our consultants.
  • If you are seeking help with citation and documentation, we will teach you how to use style guides and the Purdue OWL.
  • Each individual can book up to two appointments a week, but only one per day, in accordance with our policies.

Spring 2021 Hours

  • Sunday: 4-8 pm
  • Monday: 11 am - 1 pm, 2-8pm
  • Tuesday: 1-8 pm
  • Wednesday: 11 am - 1 pm, 2-8 pm
  • Thursday: 11 am -12 pm, 1-8 pm 
  • Friday: 11 am - 4 pm  

Our Services

We do not edit, proofread papers, or discuss grades. We help with the writing process: 

  • Prewriting, outlining, and organizing
  • Developing a thesis statement
  • Researching
  • Citing sources

and with any written assignments except exams.

Our Mission Statement

The Racer Writing Center helps students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines become more effective and successful writers. We believe that all writers, no matter how competent, can improve their skills. The Racer Writing Center provides a setting where writers share and discuss their work with knowledgeable, attentive readers who provide clients with concrete examples and strategies for improving grammar, content, argumentation, and presentation. We strive to serve the entire campus community by aiding in the development of analytical and written communication skills.
