Thank you for your interest in employment within University Libraries. We welcome energetic and motivated students to become part of our team of committed faculty and staff. Eligible students of all majors are encouraged to apply for both university and work study positions in our area. Eligibility for work study is determined by the Student Employment office within the Murray State University Office of Financial Aid. Please contact the MSU Office of Financial Aid to verify your eligibility or for more information regarding the work study program.

While the department is always taking applications, there are a limited number of positions available. Applications for employment will be kept active for one academic year. Student Assistant Job Descriptions
Students employed in the Waterfield, Pogue and Overby Libraries are a valuable part of the University Libraries' team. They support day-to-day operations including assisting faculty, staff, students, and University visitors Students may be employed under the University Student Employment Program (USEP) or Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) program.
Library student assistants perform a variety of duties across the many diverse areas of the libraries. Primary responsibilities are the care and maintenance of all of the library collections as well as customer service to the many different library patron groups. Student assistant duties may include organizing and processing materials along with shelving and inventorying collections.
Clerical office duties such as filing, scanning, data entry and answering the phone may be required.
All library student assistants are expected to communicate effectively with the library staff, university faculty, staff, students and community.
Student assistants must be able to work well with other students as well as faculty and staff.
Some positions require student assistants be able to work night and/or weekend hours and be able to lift at least 25lbs and push heavy book trucks.
