CALL FOR PROPOSALS 2019

The Faculty Development Center invites proposals to facilitate sessions during Fall 2019. The due dates are fast approaching!

We are pleased to announce that Murray State University will host our annual Fall Faculty Summit on Friday, August 16, 2019 in the Curris Center, and all individuals with teaching responsibilities are invited to attend.

We invite individuals to submit proposals (evidence-based or research-based) to lead sessions (e.g., concurrent, emerging ideas, and lightning) in the following areas:

  • Teaching and Learning (e.g., innovative approaches to teaching and learning, assessments, evaluation, high impact practices, course or program curriculum reform).
  • Leadership and Change (e.g., innovative practices and initiatives, individual and team support, power, and inclusivity).

  • Effective Technologies and Tools (e.g., to support pedagogical innovation, student engagement, accessibility, virtual reality, mixed/augmented reality).

  • General Success Strategies (e.g., Work-life balance)

LOVE OF LEARNING BROWN BAG LUNCH RESEARCH SERIES

 

Are you conducting or publishing research on teaching and learning? Do you know someone who is engaged in SoTL work?

The Faculty Development Center is inviting individuals who are interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) to submit a proposal or nominate faculty to facilitate a session during our next Love of Learning Brown Bag Research Series. The three-session series will be held in September, October and November, 2019.

TEACHING WELL WITH TECHNOLOGY SERIES
Do you use technology to facilitate learning? Are you interested in sharing how one or more technologies have worked well to help your students learn?

The Faculty Development Center will host a Teaching Well With Technology Series in Fall 2019. We invite proposals from faculty who are interested in facilitating hands-on sessions that will equip participants to use certain technologies in their courses to help students learn.

STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING SERIES

Do you have a topic, concept, or strategy that you would like to discuss with others to gather insights or to share what you have learned?

In Fall, 2019, the Faculty Development Center will host a Conversation About Teaching and Learning Series to promote substantive conversations about issues that could impact our students' success. You may submit a proposal to lead an informal discussion or to suggest topics that are of interest to you and could be of interest to other faculty. We invite two types of proposals:

  1. Experience-based: You have some experience using the concept or strategy and you are interested in sharing your experience or leading a related discussion.

  2. Knowledge-based: You have limited knowledge about the topic, concept or strategy but you would like to participate in a related discussion to gather or stimulate insights.

INFORMAL CONVERSATIONS SERIES


 
Do you have a topic that you would like to discuss informally with others to gather insights or to share what you have learned?

In Spring 2019, the Faculty Development Centers plans to host informal conversations to promote substantive discourse about topics that could impact our students and faculty success. You may submit a proposal to lead an informal discussion or suggest topics that are of interest to you and could be of interest to other faculty.

THIS WORKS FOR ME VIRTUAL SUMMIT

Do you have a strategy that has worked for you as a faculty, leader or learner? Could your strategy make a difference in someone's life?

The Faculty Development Center will host a virtual summit titled This Works For Me, in Fall 2019. If you answer yes to any of the questions above or below, consider submitting a proposal.

Have you ever struggled to do something and then you figured out a strategy that worked? Could your strategy be the answer to someone's problem? Do you know of individuals at Murray State and beyond that could share relevant strategies that work?  

You are invited to submit a proposal or nominate individuals to participate in the FDC’s This Works For Me series. Proposals may be submitted for one or more of the following tracks, and you may also propose a different track:

  • This Works for me in Teaching and Learning
  • This Works for me in Instructional Design
  • This Works for me in Technology
  • This Works for me in Research
  • This Works for me in Service
  • This Works for me in Promotion and Tenure
  • This Works for me in Peer Review of Teaching
  • This Works for me in Leadership
  • This Works for me in Mentoring

The strategies will be shared via interviews organized by the Faculty Development Center. The interviews will be shared via the FDC newsletter and other media agreed upon by the interviewees. Additional logistics will be discussed with the interviewees. Suggestions are also welcomed.
