Biographical / Historical Information: Walter Barnhill was a tavern clerk at Mills Point (Hickman), Kentucky during the 1830s.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of a photocopied transcript of a diary kept by Walter Barnhill of Mills Point (Hickman), Kentucky from June of 1832 to December of 1834. The transcripts were published in the Hickman Courier and pasted in a scrapbook. The diary describes the daily activities of a tavern clerk and regional events such as severe weather conditions, swarms of mosquitoes, river traffic, the relocation of Indian tribes, politics, social gatherings, wagon trains and visitors to Mills Point.
